Meet the Tutor Team

The Tutor Team at St Bees

At St Bees, the Tutor Team is at the very heart of school life. Tutors are a constant presence in your child’s journey through the school, offering daily support, encouragement, and guidance. They play an important role in the rhythm of the school day, providing a friendly face and a listening ear, while also ensuring that each student is fully engaged in both their academic progress and personal development.

What makes our Tutor system unique is its continuity. Wherever possible, your child’s Tutor continues with them as they move up through the school, becoming a trusted mentor who really understands their strengths, challenges, and aspirations. This long-term relationship creates a deep sense of stability and belonging, with the tutor always there to champion, advise, and celebrate each student’s successes.

More than just teachers, our Tutors are mentors. They support students in setting goals, developing character, and preparing for the challenges of life beyond St Bees. Parents/Guardians also benefit from this close relationship, with Tutors acting as the key link between home and school.

At St Bees, the Tutor Team isn’t just part of the school day – it’s the backbone of our supportive community.

Mentoring at St Bees

Mentoring is a central part of life at St Bees, providing structure, care, and guidance for every student throughout the week. The programme combines academic support, pastoral care, and opportunities for personal development, ensuring students always have someone to turn to and a framework to help them thrive.

Our mentoring structure adapts as students progress through the school, offering tailored opportunities such as joint projects with our partner school in Hong Kong (Year 7) and support with UCAS applications (Year 13). The Spring Term brings an additional focus on personal development, including the legal and life skills that prepare students for adulthood.

Autumn Term Mentoring Structure

Day Focus
Monday Formal pastoral check-ins
Tuesday House meetings and assemblies
Wednesday Formal pastoral check-in opportunities
Thursday Topical Thursdays (optional)
Friday Froggy Fridays – a lighter, community-building close to the week
